Sharpeyes LLC – Smart Glasses With Auto Focusing Capabilities

Smart Glasses are made of glycerin-filled, liquid lenses that can automatically adjust the focus on what a person is seeing, whether it is far away or close up. The lenses are placed in battery-powered frames that can automatically adjust the focal length of the lenses based on what the wearer is looking at.

These glasses are particularly suited for people with presbyopia, a condition in which the lens of your eye loses part of its ability to focus on objects at variable distances, typically requiring progressive lenses or bifocals and separate reading glasses.

Doctor Carlos Mastrangelo, the creator of these Smart Glasses explains that altering how the liquid lenses are curved allows the smart glasses to focus on whatever the wearer is looking at.

It takes about 14 milliseconds for the glasses to alter focus, and the rechargeable battery in the frames lasts more than 24 hours.

Now in order to commercialize the product, Carlos has developed a company, Sharpeye LLC, to produce the product for the general public. Listen, subscribe, and review Future Tech Podcast.

  • Jan Witowski – 3D Printing of Human Liver Surgical Planning Models

Jan Witowski – 3D Printing of Human Liver Surgical Planning Models

Jan Witowski a medical student, talks to us about 3D liver modeling and how it helps surgeons do pre-surgical planning on patients
with liver tumors by providing them a 3d printed model of the patient’s liver in 24-48 hours for just $150, not $5,000.

Witwoski 3D prints the liver models with their internal circulatory systems and tumors visible, so doctors and surgeons can identify potential problems in upcoming surgery, making it a lot easier for surgeons to extricate tumors, avoid damaging or cutting blood vessels, and more.

The 3d printed liver models are made primarily for complex laparoscopic resections, which aren’t everyday procedures and require detailed visualization, since it’s vital to reduce possible complications as well as blood loss during the procedure.

Medical students in the team go and talk to the patients about their illness, and the surgery they are about to undergo and explain the process using customized, full-sized 3D liver models as an educational tool. Patients seem to feel more confident going to the surgery and it also allows them to recover faster.

At less than 1/10th the price and taking just a few days, Witkowski’s team is providing a much-needed service that will undoubtedly lead to more successful liver operations (and operations on other organs and areas in the future).

  • Netki – Simple Re-naming of Bitcoin Addresses & Online ID Vetting

Netki – Simple Re-naming of Bitcoin Addresses & Online ID Vetting

Netki was launched by Justin and Dawn Newton, and allows users to create bitcoin wallets with “normal” names and e-mail addresses, just like DNS allows IP addresses to be written as plain english website names (ex: bitcoin.com).Netki supports 3 cryptocurrencies and is planning to expand to more in the near future.

A key feature of Netki’s bitcoin wallets is their name, which do not look like a traditional combination of digits and letters.

Talking about the Wallet Name Service, they attempted to produce a domestic wallet address, and companies that have joined Netki’s wallet naming service are Purse, BitSo, Bitt and BlockCypher. Netki wallets have names like “wallet.koritzky.bit”. Thus, the service is not a wallet provider as such, but rather another ‘superstructure’ constructed on top of a current bitcoin wallet.

Netki also is becoming an online hub for vetting and verification of your digital identity.
